Question - Does anyone know if cats eat toads?

I have been seriously thinking about getting a pet. I am told toads do not need too much attention, either.

I haven't heard of a case of a cat eating a toad, but cats are rather curious creatures - willing to try anything once.

Though if you keep your toad in a tank so that it can breathe properly, I doubt you'd have a need to be wary of the cats in our dorm.

This is true...

But ah! The tank! I had not thought of that... Yes, that should work fantastically!

Good, then I hope you'll be able to have fun with your that new toad that you're getting.

Though, just be careful with my own little cat. He's rather young, but if you put a ward on the tank, it should be okay. Cats are fast learners - they won't try again if they get hurt while trying to get something.

Thank you!

And do not worry, I will be, I will be! Your cat is not the one I have a problem with, after all. I will do just that, then.

No problem.

Though, you got me curious. Whose cat do you 'have a problem with'?

Aah, you mean 13. Now I'm really wondering why you have a problem with her. She's a nice enough cat.

Eh. I suppose so, generally. But she and I just do not... Click.

Besides, she is always leaving bits of any animals she eats around. It is disgusting.

But cats in general tend to do that.

I'm not sure, but if they don't eat toads I bet they'll kill them for sport.

I do not like cats.

But what if the toad was in a tank?

That sounds like it would work, but you have to make sure the cat wouldn't try to make it's way into the tank. Though I guess you could easily put a spell on it to prevent that.

Yes, yes, I'm sure I could! Ah, this is going to be wonderful!

So why the sudden interest?

Well, Alfred has a cat - nasty thing - and we were discussing how many pets I cannot have because the cat would eat it. I am not going to let a cat keep me from being able to do anything, so I have decided to get something.

Besides, toads are funny-looking creatures. Rather amusing.

So it's Alfred's cat you're worrying about. Well, good luck with your toad-to-be.

I'm more of a dog person, but they're not one of the pets they allow here at Hogwarts.

Thank you. I will probably need it...

Oh, I agree! Dogs are great pets - It is a shame they are not allowed here.

You're welcome.

Though I doubt some dogs would be happy in a school, considering they're size.

True... But it could be a smaller dog! Although they can be very... yappy.

That's hardly a dog at all.

It's no matter, though. I have a dog back home that I'll be able to see once school lets out.

Ah, how lucky for you!

I think they might...

Oh, but you have to pay attention to toads, or they might hop away.

Well, hopefully the tank will help with that.

Of course, of course! That is also what the tank is for!

Well, I am planning on getting one.

You're back :D

I...don't think so. I never had a cat, though, so I might be wrong. Maybe you should ask Daine.

I've been thinking about getting a pet, too, but I'm going to get an owl rather than a toad, I suppose.

Aw, yes I am, thank you. :)

I am getting quite a mix of responses to this!

Ah, a good choice! They are very handy. I cannot have one, of course, because my roomates' cats would try to eat it, I'm sure.
From: [identity profile] nordic-tiger.livejournal.com
As expected if you inquired something from the public. That's why you should ask Daine, she knew about such things.

Yes, they are, comparing to cats or toads. If that's so, maybe you should buy a large one, so it's the other way around. Is that even possible? Thankfully none of my roomates own a cat.

Yeah, I was. RL was kicking my butt.

True.

Hmm, I could ask Daine, but I think I have enough information for now.

...When you say I should buy a large one, do you mean an owl or a frog? I do not think either would eat a cat.

Condsider yourself lucky.

That happens from time to time :3

Well, you could always ask her later. You're in the same House as her, if I do recall correctly...?

An owl, of course. A large frog would be...how should I put it. I can't seem to recall the English word for it.

Daunting. That's the word. You'll scare everyone away with a large frog, except maybe the Slytherins. It would be amusing if either one of them or both of them does.

Well, maybe I should. I don't hate cats that much, though.
